National Weather Service has issued a Fire Danger Statement for Near Critical Fire Conditions

FIRE DANGER STATEMENT
NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE AUSTIN/SAN ANTONIO TX
Wed Nov 13 2024…NEAR CRITICAL FIRE WEATHER CONDITIONS EXPECTED

AFFECTED AREA: Most of South-Central Texas, including the Edwards Plateau, Hill Country, Rio Grande Plains, I-35 Corridor, and the Blackland Prairies portion of the Coastal Prairies.

TIMING: From 11 AM CDT to 7 PM CDT

WIND: NW at 10 to 20 mph with gusts up to 25 mph.

RELATIVE HUMIDITY: As low as 12-23 percent.

FUEL DRYNESS: Dry.

 PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS…Affected residents are urged to exercise care with respect to all outdoor activities that could inadvertently cause wildfires.  Avoid the use of welding or grinding equipment near grass and dry brush. In addition, avoid parking vehicles in tall, dry grass and weeds that could be ignited. Do not toss cigarette butts on the ground. Report wildfires quickly to the nearest fire department or law enforcement office.
