We have been receiving calls from residents concerned about the rising number of COVID cases in Burnet County and potentially in the City of Highland Haven. COVID and COVID-19 Delta Variant are still very active across the nation, especially, among those who have not been vaccinated. 95% of the hospitalized COVID patients are not vaccinated and many are on ventilators. The Highland Lakes area has seen a 6-fold increase in COVID cases. Below is a weblink to the Texas Department of State Health Services (TDSHS) that provides specific information regarding COVID Vaccine and Updated Health Recommendations. The Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) also has links at the TDSHS website.

Basically residents should follow these basic recommendations;
- Get fully vaccinated if you have not been.
- Regularly wash hands with soap and water.
- Wear a mask.
- Practice social distancing.
- Avoid contact with people who are sick.
- If you are sick, stay home and seek guidance from your doctor.
- Fully vaccinated people who have come into close contact with someone with suspected or confirmed COVID-19 to be tested 3-5 days after exposure, and to wear a mask in public indoor settings for 14 days or until they receive a negative test result.
- If you test positive for COVID, isolate and quarantine to avoid spreading the virus to others.
