On March 25, 2020, Burnet County Judge James Oakley declared a STAY IN PLACE AND STAY SAFE Order that became effective at 11:59 p.m. on March 25, 2019. The following SUPPLEMENTAL ORDER is enacted:
- All essential businesses as defined in the STAY IN PLACE AND STAY SAFE ORDER are ORDERED to limit the number of all individuals (customer and employees) allowed within the establishment to the lesser of 200 individuals or 10% of the Fire Code occupancy limit for the building. If the Fire Code occupancy limit would not allow for customers to enter the premises under this provision, then customers may be allowed to enter the business 1 at a time. Businesses shall observe appropriate social distancing for all employees and customers throughout their premises. (This may require limiting access; having customers queue outside with appropriate distancing; etc.)
- Members of the public are directed to limit their numbers when running essential errands. They shall keep a minimum distance of 6 feet from others at all times.
- All hotels and motels are ORDERED to close any pools and hot tubs.
- For clarification purposes, the following are deemed non-essential businesses: Barbershops, Beauty Salons, Nail Salons, Tanning Salons, Massage Therapist Providers, Spas, Tattoo Parlors, Boutiques, Jewelry Stores, Antique Shops, Secondhand Shops, Thrift Stores, Gift shops, Vape Stores, Party Supply Stores, Video Stores, Book Stores, and Comic Book Shops.
- Drive through car washes, where the driver remains in their vehicle at all times and no service provider enters the vehicle, as well as self-service car washes, may remain open.
- All Essential businesses shall conduct responsible commerce so that human interaction is limited as much as possible. The public is directed to be smart, use common sense and take appropriate precautionary measures to protect yourself, your family and our community.
- Boating is allowable so long as the occupants on the boat are limited to members of the same household, and no more than 10 individuals.
AS AUTHORIZED BY SECTION 418.173 OF THE TEXAS GOVERNMENT CODE AND AS ADOPTED
IN BURNET COUNTY’S EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT PLAN, A FAILURE TO COMPLY WITH THE
BURNET COUNTY EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT PLAN OR WITH ANY RULE, ORDER OR ORDINANCE
ADOPTED UNDER SAID PLAN, INCLUDING, BUT NOT LIMITED TO THIS STAY IN PLACE AND
STAY SAFE, SHALL BE A CRIMINAL OFFENSE PUNISHABLE BY A FINE THAT DOES NOT
EXCEED $1,000.00 OR CONFINEMENT IN JAIL FOR A TERM NOT
TO EXCEED 180 DAYS. THE BURNET
COUNTY SHERIFF’S OFFICE,
BURNET
COUNTY CONSTABLES, AND OTHER LICENSED PEACE OFFICERS ARE HEREBY AUTHORIZED TO ENFORCE THIS ORDER AND ORDERS REFERENCED HEREIN.
This Supplement to the Stay in Place and Stay Safe is adopted on this the 30th dav of March, 2020 to be effective as of 12:00 p.m. (noon) March 31, 2020.
