LCRA Flood Watch Issued for November 19th and 20th, 2025

A quick heads up on the threat for heavy rain across the Hill Country and Interstate 35 corridor regions Late Wednesday through Thursday.

Forecasters are closely monitoring a trough of low pressure over southern California that is predicted to track to the east-northeast over the next couple of days and will have the potential to bring pockets of heavy rain to the Hill Country and the Interstate 35 corridor.  The main period of concern will be between late Wednesday night and late Thursday night.

High resolution forecasts call for showers and thunderstorms to develop across Southwest Texas late Wednesday afternoon and Wednesday evening, with the activity spreading north over the Hill Country and I-35 corridor regions late Wednesday night into Thursday. Forecasts indicate some of the rain could become locally heavy late Wednesday night into Thursday. Due to the threat for heavy rain, The National Weather has posted a Flood Watch for much of the Hill Country and the Interstate 35 corridor, including the Austin metro, from midnight Wednesday night through late Thursday night. Rainfall forecasts through Thursday night call for totals to average between 1 to 3 inches, with isolated totals of 5-6 inches possible in the watch area.

With the upper trough taking a path that turns to the north rather than tracking to the east, fewer showers and thunderstorms and lower totals of rain are forecast across the eastern half of Central Texas and the middle Texas coast. However, showers and thunderstorms are forecast Thursday into Friday morning as a Pacific cold front moves across the area.

The rain is predicted to end from west to east Friday morning, followed by generally dry weather Friday night and Saturday. Another period of moderate to possibly heavy rain is forecast to take shape beginning Sunday, continuing through next Tuesday as a second wave of low pressure moves across Texas. This system will have the potential to bring another 1-3 inches of rain to the Hill Country and Central Texas regions.

NWS Rainfall Forecast for the Period between 6 pm Sunday and 6 pm Tuesday:

Thanksgiving Day weather is expected to be mostly sunny with high temperatures in the 70s.
